because men cry too, but the tears are invisible

Invisible Tears

Through this channel, I am trying to make a small contribution to  support and further the highly important cause of men's mental health.

Conversations

Trauma Healing: Importance of acceptance

Great conversation Lois on the importance of acceptance in Trauma  Healing, and my new book 'The Circle of Life', which is now available on  Amazon.

Importance of men's mental health and the need for immediate societal change in COVID times

Men's mental health has always been an underserved topic in society  and there is immediate change needed. Furthermore, COVID and the  resulting lack of socialisation opportunities makes immediate change and  action critical.

Men's mental health has been an issue because men don't speak up for fear of being ridiculed or being left unheard. This has been the case even when socialisation opportunities existed. Now, with those opportunities gone because lockdowns, the very few men  who would have spoken about their emotions are left with no option, sort  of.

We can help them by providing a supportive and nurturing  environment, right inside our homes. Like it always should have been. We might have lost the way in the past, but we have the option to  change the path we are on. Let us use this opportunity to make change  happen.

Matthew Herrera on growing up in a single parent family in the USA

Great conversation with Matt on growing up in a single parent family in the USA. We discussed the impact of various factors on  the mental development of a child, and how it influences their thinking  and actions as they grow older.

Factors explored in the conversation:
- Impact of divorce on a young child
- Impact of immediate and extended family (single parent, grandparents,  and siblings)
- Impact of the environment/ neighbourhood
- Impact of access to support from religious and spiritual groups/  establishments
- Impact of access to sports
